Counselor

Greetings! My name is Carla Vaughn and I am a Certified School Counselor at Barbers Hill Elementary School South. I have been a school counselor for 7 years and this is my sixth year in Barbers Hill. Prior to that, I taught 3rd and 4th grades in Math and Science in Galena Park ISD (5 years), Goose Creek CISD (4 years), and was a counselor in GCCISD for one year.

A good education includes not only reading, writing, and math, but learning good social skills is very important as well. This means learning how to get along with other children, making good choices, controlling emotions, accepting responsibility, and being aware of strengths and weaknesses, among other things. These things are needed for a child's success, not only in school, but in life as well.

It is important to remember that school personnel and parents working together are a winning combination for children. All children deserve to be winners. Working together, we can help make your child most successful at school and home.
